Sir Keir Rodney Starmer is a British politician who has served as the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom since 2024 and as Leader of the Labour Party since 2020. Before becoming prime minister, he served as Leader of the Opposition (2020–2024). He has been the Member of Parliament (MP) for Holborn and St Pancras since 2015. From 2008 to 2013, Starmer was the Director of Public Prosecutions. In 2024, Starmer led Labour to power and became Prime Minister of the United Kingdom. Shortly after taking office, he met with Chinese leader Xi Jinping at the G20 summit in Rio de Janeiro, where he emphasized the importance of building a “consistent, durable, and respectful” relationship with China.
